Since the initial launch of TruePoker.com, the first 3D poker site, there has been an exponentially increasing interest in the idea of 3D online poker. Although TruePoker.com didn't have the graphics or traffic to really create an interest, it got the ball rolling, and now a few other sites have picked up the slack.
The main site of course is PKR.com. This is the best out of all the 3D poker sites and is actually a major player in the online poker market which is something no other 3D poker room can say. The rest of this article will talk about how PKR came along, and how they continue to show growth in a competitive market.
Stacks Poker is the site that really started the 3D poker revolution. They generated a huge buzz with in game video previews of their software, and had every poker forum on the 'net chatting about how excited they were to beta test the software. Then, the beta test came out, and all that buzz was lost.
Reviews claimed that the software was shaky, the program was very resource intensive, and the graphics weren't all they claimed to be. After the disappointing beta test, Stacks ending up cutting their losses and shut the site down, never to be seen again...
Then PKR came along with basically the same marketing ploy. Make awesome software, get people excited, and actually LAUNCH your site. This worked out, and PKR now has over 2,000,000 registered players with over 8,000 people online at peak hours. Everyone said it couldn't be done, but it was, and PKR is showing great success.
